FINALLY! I got nylon screws and whatnot and was able to put the mini back together. Everything checked out just fine as far as system functionality. I went ahead and tested a couple 1080p files that I knew I had problems with before using my old 1.83GHz C2D. One of these included Earth (the consolidated movie documentary version of Planet Earth). I found that once the bit-rate went over 35 MBit/s, there was frame dropping - regardless of what the "H.264 speed boost"...

...plastic retention clips. While I had read about others doing the same thing before me, I figured I could be careful and avoid it - WRONG. Out of the 4 clips, I somehow managed to break 1 of them and am now left with a non-functional heatsink until I find some other way to retain the heatsink. The shear idiocy of using those things is beyond me, but what can I do? I am the one who was stupid enough to break one, after all. I was reading up at 123macmini.com and found others have used #4-40 nylon screws and nuts to make a replacement retention clip. So, I went out hunting. I ventured to my local hardware store who had the smallest size of #6-32
